A man's wife goes in for surgery. The next day the doctor calls him in to talk to him personally. In the doctor's office the doctor says "I'm sorry, but there were complications." "What complications?" The man asks. "Well," the doctor says "In this case some people prefer I tell it to them straight and some people prefer I give it a positive spin." The man says "Tell it to me straight, doc I can take it" The doctor lowers his voice and gently says "Your wife is in a coma and it is very unlikely she will ever get out of it." Then the man asks "And what do you say to the people that want to hear it with a positive spin?" The doctor smiles and says happily "To them I just say 'Today is the first day of the rest of your wife.'"
